Old Colorado Inn – Stuart, Fl

Posted by waltjeffries

If you are visiting Stuart in Martin County Florida and staying on the beach is not your thing, then check out the Old Colorado Inn which is located in the heart of Historic Downtown Stuart. The Hotel & Guest Houses, while originally built in 1890 – 1914, have been restored with a touch of modern elegance. A great place to stay if you are visiting Stuart for a week or just stopping by for a special weekend.

Since I live in Stuart, I don’t often have the luxury of staying in hotels here, but if I have friends over I would most certainly suggest The Colorado Inn. This hotel offers deluxe studios, spacious and luxurious suites, charming cottages, and spacious historic guest houses nestled in a casual tropical setting. It reminds me of homes you would see in Key West.

Staying at the Old Colorado Inn puts you within walking distance to restaurants such as The Sneaki Tiki which is in the same building. Live music and tropical island cuisine make this the place to go if you are keeping with the Caribbean/ Key West theme.

Or just around the corner from the main hotel, you will find Eighteen Seminole Street. This small but cozy restaurant is a cottage style Italian Bistro. If you went with family and friends, you could have a whole room to yourself.

Take in a Concert

Plan your getaway around a concert at the Lyric Theatre. This showplace is a historic theatre in Downtown Stuart that seats only 500 patrons. Seeing a show at the Lyric is great because there is really not a bad seat in the house.

Downtown Stuart Shopping

Take the afternoon or evening strolling the streets of Downtown Stuart. Wander in the locally owned shops and browse around. This is where you can pick up some island attire from the many fashion boutiques to wear on your vacation. It is also a great place to shop for special Florida coastal gifts or souvenirs.

Riverwalk

If you stay at the Old Colorado Inn, you are just 100 yards from the St. Lucie River and the Riverwalk which takes you just past the Roosevelt Bridge. It is a nice walk to take after dinner. On Sunday, you can walk to the Market on Main Street or to see a concert on the Riverwalk Stage.

If you are looking for a great place to stay that is charming and loaded with character, then try the Old Colorado Inn. Prices are reasonable and you are close to everything Stuart has to offer. The beach is 10 minutes away, fishing and golf are close by, and you are right in the heart of Downtown Stuart.
